FAQ

If you have any questions about the services I provide there is a good chance you will find the answer here.  If not please feel free to contact me.

Do I have to join the gym to train with you?

No it's not a requirement to join to have your training sessions. However, joining is relatively inexpensive (approximately £25.00 per month peak, £17.99 off-peak, with £5.00 admin fee and no contract) and it's likely that you will want to do some additional training on your own, or use facilities before or after our sessions. You would need a membership for this.

What does the assessment comprise of?

The assessment will depend on your reasons for having personal training and undertaking an exercise programme. Some assessments like body composition for example, may not be needed for someone looking to increase mobility or deal with postural issues. A typical assessment would comprise of informed consent to have me work with you, a lifestyle questionnaire, dietary information, body composition, posture and movement assessment, blood pressure and possibly cholesterol checks. If you have some medical conditions, you may require a letter from your GP stating it's safe for you to exercise.

How long is a training session?

Typically it's 1 hour, but if you need a longer or shorter session I can do those and will adjust the prices accordingly.

Do I need to have the same day and time slots every week?

Not really. Most people like to fit into a routine and that's great. If you can't do this then I like to be as flexible as I can to make sure you get your sessions done.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you book a block of sessions and decide that you want or need to stop training then whatever is left will be refunded in full. I like to use common sense and fairness if you need to cancel an individual session. If you cancel with a days notice or more you won't be charged. If I've spent time preparing and travelling to do your session and you cancel an hour before the session you'll get charged. It's a little subjective but I treat each circumstance as it arises rather than have a rigid policy. I find it's fairer on people that way.

Do you train at the weekends?

Yes I can train at weekends but prefer not to do the evening time.

What are the earliest and latest start times for sessions?

The earliest I will start a session is 6am, and my latest start time is 8.30pm. On weekends I can still start early but prefer to finish in the afternoon.

Do you give meal plans?

Providing detailed plans for exactly what clients should eat is the remit of qualified dieticians. I provide guidance on the types of foods you should be eating, along with rough amounts, balance, and timings.

Can I park at the gym?

Yes. If you are a member you get 2 hours free parking by entering your car registration on the gym floor. You can still park if you are not a member, but will have to pay.

Do I need to buy an equipment?

If you are planning to do any training at home then some low cost equipment may be required. Otherwise all equipment is provided by the gym or myself.

Can I pop down to the gym to see you?

Please do not attend the gym without a prior appointment. I am not always there and if I am I will likely be working with someone.

Do you train people outside or at their homes?

This is not something I offer at this time, but may change in the coming weeks and months.

Why is the session price higher for paired training?

When I train two people I have to write two programs, communicate with two people etc. It's more work overall so the session price is slightly higher.
